30 Ways to Save £1!

Hello :)

Let's face it, we are all sometimes oblivious to the money we spend on 'small things' and how the cost adds up. I decided to join in on the Money Supermarket competition and share my 30 tips on how to save £1 (or even more!) because everyone loves to find a bargain and save money!
1) Shop around! There are loads of websites out there to help you find the best deals. A lot of supermarkets now give you the difference back if you could of got your purchases cheaper somewhere else.

2) Walk instead of using public transport, getting some exercise and saving money!

3) If you drive try and top up your petrol at a Tesco petrol station so you can use your club card and clock up your points even more.

4) Store cards are your best friend! So simple to earn rewards/points even if your going to get essentials. All that cotton wool and toothpaste at boots might get you a free lipstick at some point!

5)If your going somewhere eat before you leave so you don't feel inclined to stop off at Costa, Starbucks, Pret a Manger or wherever else.

6) Alternatively, take a snack and drink with you if your prone to getting hungry when your out.

7) Look out for restaurant deals, 2 for 1 etc. Prezzo is really good for them.

8) If your in a restaurant ask for tap water - it's free!

9) Get meal deals, loads of supermarkets are starting to do things like 'dine in for £10' etc.

10) Buy in bulk when on offer. This could be from stuff like toothpaste to your favourite face wash.

11) If your due an upgrade/renewal of phone contract it's quite likely you will get a better deal if you have been with them for a while or haggle. I got my phone handset free and the monthly price reduced by a lot!

12) If your going to London and visiting Camden Market, something lots of people don't do is haggle on the market stalls but it works every time there is always money to be saved. This applies to most market style places too!

13) Go to poundland! Especially for essentials like toilet roll, toothpaste etc as there only £1 (duh) which is usually cheaper than what you would find it supermarkets.

14) Always, always save you 1p and 2ps! Keep them in a jar or money bag and take them to a machine in a supermarket which will change them up. I got £7 last week from coins I'd found lying around!

15) Keep your eyes peeled for 'introductory' prices on new products.
.
16) Have a look in TKMaxx. I never used to buy I've found some real bargains in there with 'current season' stock especially.

17) Have a look in your local beauty salons if you want to get branded nail polish in particular. My local has OPI for £7 and Seche Vite for about £6. So if there's a colour you want, check in your local!

18) Don't buy expensive clothes in a style that's in trend but is likely to go out of fashion quickly. Think Primark for throw away fashion!

19) If you have sensitive ears and have to wear sterling silver earrings or your ears will turn black (a la moi) try Claire's sterling silver earrings. They do pretty ones for about £5, much cheaper than ones in jewellery shops like H Samuel's that go for £20 odd.

20) Buy a smaller size product before committing to a bigger one which costs more. This can be in the form of minis or just the smaller version of a products.

21)  Use old storage boxes from gift sets for extra storage - they don't have to be pretty as you can keep them out of site under your bed!

22) eBay. You can find such bargains on there (I got a genuine Juicy Couture bag RRP £190 for £16). Also if you like designer things, there's loads of replica's to be found.

23) If your selling on eBay, wait until free insertion week, no fee to put items up.

24) To keep track of your finances easily - see if your bank has an app. I have the Natwest app and it's simple and easy to see what's been going in and out of my bank account.

25) Do DIY! You can make face masks from stuff in the cupboard or general DIY instead of buying something - I'm planning to make myself a nail polish rack.

26) If you pay for bills - do it online. Saving money on stamps if your sending it off and saving on your telephone bill if you do it via over the phone.

27)  Keep leftovers from dinner for lunch the next day.

28) Buy better quality 'staple' things. This can be clothes like jeans for example, or a purse. You won't need to keep replacing things. My purse is 4 years old and still going strong.

29) Only buy as much as you need. It may be on offer or something but think 'Do I actually need that many/much?'

30) Instead of buying a separate hand cream - carry a mini size of that body lotion you have at home from a Christmas gift set or any other mini.

Those were my tips! I hope they will maybe help you save a lil' bit of money! This is an entry for the money supermarket competition, which you can find more about *Here* :)

Favourite Nail Care Products

The last few months I've been much more into taking care of my nails to keep them in as best condition as possible because I've found myself changing my nail polish more regularly than I used to which is strange because I could go two weeks with horrendously chipped nails but not take it off because I was so lazy/busy and now I find myself changing the colour every 3-4 days! Anyway, the point of this post is to show you what nail care products I use as I really like them and would definitely recommend them.

Tools: I usually always give my nails a little file to keep them neat. I really want to get a glass file as I heard they are much better for your nails. I also use a cuticle pusher - I prefer ones with rubber tips than wooden ones as they are much softer on the nail.

Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover: I got this from Fragrance Direct and I don't believe it's sold in the UK. On first use I wasn't wowed but after using it for a while it makes my cuticles so soft in 15 secs and it makes pushing my cuticles back so much quicker and easier.

Cuticle Creams: I like the Burt's bee's one if I feel my nails are particularly parched as it's really nourishing and thick. My favourite would have to be the No7 'Nourishing Nail & Cuticle care' one though as it's lightweight and sinks in quickly. It's amazing and you don't need much either, I've been using mine regularly for about 5 months and I'm only about 1/2 down.

Base Coat: Rimmel 5 in 1 is a new buy but I'm really enjoying it so far. I use as a base coat but it can also be a topcoat and it's a 'total care' product too so helps your nails grow, be strong etc. It dries fast and I feel it gives a good foundation for my nail polish.

Top Coat: Oh, Seche Vite! I got this at the same time as the rimmel one and it's love! I totally get why people rave about it. This dries so fast which is a godsend if you are like me and cannot sit and wait for you nails to dry. The glossy shine it gives is like no other and always leaves my nails looking professionally done!

Review: MAC Lipstick in Sweetie

I've been on the look out for a a new MAC lipstick recently and have been trawling through Internet swatches trying to find 'the one'. Last Saturday was the day I finally went to the MAC counter to swatch some of the lipsticks I'd liked the look of on the Internet but when I got there, there's so many I just picked up ones I liked the look of and that's how I found this beauty! I had never heard of it before but it was love at first swatch :)

Sweetie is a lustre finish so it's quite sheer and shimmery which I thought I wouldn't like but it's actually not that bad! A tad drying but nothing lip balm can't fix. Colour wise, it seriously is a perfect everyday colour for me! I have quite pigmented lips and I prefer wearing deeper, berry pink colours just like this lipstick (the hand swatch shows it too be a bit 'brighter' than what it is - bullet colour is more accurate in 2nd and 3rd pics) It's pigmented without being full on so of course you can have it as light or as full on as you like. I know 'deeper' lip colours are more suited to the colder months but in my opinion this is a more spring/summer deep colour as it's sort of bright at the same time if that makes sense. I also love the name, haha :)

This instantly makes my lips look nice and healthy and perks my complexion up nicely. I really love this! I like the formula much more than I thought I would (even though, cremesheen is still my fave!) and the colour is perfect for me. I would highly recommend checking this lipstick out if your into deeper pinks like me.

Elf Haul

I haven't blogged for over a week now and I've really missed it so here I am, with an Elf haul! I haven't ordered from Elf for agesss and I've wanted to but for some reason always decided not to - despite the cheap prices. When Hannah tweeted they were having a 50% sale across everything I quickly went about ordering things before everything sold out which happened on their last 50% sale (so I couldn't get anything!)

I got a lot of lip products and I don't really know why! Anyway, here's what I got and I will definitely be reviewing the things I got in the coming weeks so stay tuned :)

sorry for the rubbish photo taking 'haul' pics are pretty hard!

Nourishing Cuticle Pen
Zit Zapper
Matte Finisher Polish
Hypershine lip glosses in Fairy and Bubblegum
Luscious Liquid Lipstick's in Raspberry, Pink Lemonade and Babylips
Super Glossy Lip Shine's in Angel and Goddess
Mineral Lipstick in Nicely Nude
Studio Glossy Glosses in Dragon fruit and Pink Candy

I haven't really tried anything out yet but the cuticle pen has broken on me so that's a shame. As I said I will be reviewing everything, let me know what you would like to see first :)

NOTD's ♥ Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Dragon Fruit & Prickly Pear

Boots were on 3 for 2 on recent trip there so I picked up three Barry M polishes, the two I have to show today and one of the new textured ones which you can see HERE
I know the Gelly polishes came out a while ago but I'd never tried one and after seeing how shiny they were when my dashboard was flooded with pictures of the new Spring collection I decided I must pick one up. As it was 3 for 2 I got another free! I got Dragon Fruit and Prickly Pear. Here they are in action...

Aren't they beautiful? My new favourite formula, they were opaque with two coats and are so glossy, I need more!

Butterfly Button Cupcakes

Hi everyone, wow I cannot believe it's ---pm already. The days are whizzing by since the clocks went forward. Today was a nice day so me and my mum went to a local garden centre then when we got back decided to go to Hobby craft. I got some fondant icing there and a new icing tip which I wanted to get so when I got home I decided to bake some cupcakes.

This was my first proper attempt at decorating cupcakes and also, the icing turned out really well for my first go as it's the perfect style I wanted. Usually my cakes turn out good but today they over flowed and sunk so didn't look good - typical on the day my buttercream (which never works out) goes well! Oh, I also got a electric hand whisk as I've wanted one for a while. I didn't know how I would get on with it so just got an Argos value one for £5.99 and so far so good.

Here are my three best cupcakes

I'm really pleased with how they turned out and can't wait to get baking again, I want to master a bow for next time!

Anyway, these are my favourite Spring polishes...

My favourite would have to be pink fizz (whats new? glitter addict here) and I'm loving Neo Whimsical  & Dragron Fruit (I have this on right now) I've been wearing all of these lots & lots and will be throughout Summer mixed with brights but that will be a different post for a couple of months time.

NOTD ♥ Barry M 'Kingsland Road'

Boots are currently having a 3 for 2 across all makeup ranges which worked out very well as I wanted to try one of the new textured polishes and a gelly hi shine so I decided to get another polish which worked out free. Oh 3 for 2 I love you!

The first I've tried is the textured finish polish in Kingsland Road which is a pale pink.  I LOVE the colour it's lighter than the other baby pink I have which is too 'bright' for my liking being a pastel. This applied well and I used two coats. I expected it to be a pain to take off, it definitely did not come off like a creme finish but was no way near as hard as a glitter.

I know some people don't like the textured finish nail trend but I like it. Some of the finishes coming out are...questionable but on the whole I like it and don't have a problem with the gritty feel of this polish in particular nor others I've tried.

March Favourites

How time flies! it's now April and that means it's time for my first favourites of the month posts! These might not be every month but when I find myself liking some products in particular I will definitely be doing one. So, these are the things I've been loving in March with a mini review of each :)

Soap & Glory Whipped Clean - I wasn't a big fan of this when I first bought it last November-ish time and at the start of the month I started to try to use it up but, whoops, I became a fan of it. I prefer the smell when I'm out of the shower and it makes me feel soft and I like to use it with smoothie star lotion from S&G as it's a very similar scent.

Figs & Rouge 'Rambling Rose' Lip balm - I ordered this when I had a cold because it's a multi purpose balm that can be used on anywhere dry (ie my sore nose) I've been absolutely loving this! The smell not so much it's just not for me but the wonders this does for dry lips (and noses) is amazing!

No7 Nail and Cuticle Cream - I've been way more into taking care of my nails and this has gotta be my favourite for doing so. I use it nearly everyday and I notice such a difference when I do. They don't break as easily and feel stronger & longer.

Nivea Soft Moisturiser - I have bad bad skin and I'm on tablets & a topical cream for it right now (will blog about it at some point) so my skin gets really dry and I've been using this. I've used so much but there's not a dent in it. It's not the *best* but it works at clearing the dry patches up pretty good.

Victoria's Secret 'Love Spell' Lotion - I got this in a gift set October '11 when my nan bought me it back from America, being the USA obsessive I am I didn't want to use lots and finish it but now there's two VS's in London so I can get another, I've used it loads. It smells like peaches and is devineee! *sniffs arm*
